  • The first step to enrolling at Jefferson Community and Technical College is to fill out an application.
  • If you're a returning student who has been not been enrolled for one or more semesters, you'll need to fill out an application as well.
  • After your application is accepted, you may be admitted to Jefferson as a freshman, as a student with advanced standing from other institutions, as a visiting student, or as a non-degree student.

Advising Center

  • Advising at Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) has a mission of serving prospective and current students in need of advisement for academics, career and life.
  • The goals of advisement will allow students to progress successfully from admissions to graduation, while experiencing the excitement and challenge of a college curriculum.

Assessment/COMPASS/Placement testing

  • Students take the three-part COMPASS assessment to help academic advisors determine skill levels in reading, writing and mathematics. 
  • The COMPASS is used to place students into appropriate courses and not to determine whether a student is admitted to the college.
  • The COMPASS is taken after a student is admitted to the college.

Bookstore

  • Please note that if one book in your order is placed on back order, your entire order is placed on back order.

CREW/Metropolitan College

  • The CREW Center provides individual career counseling, career assessment, resume writing, job correspondence, co-op, job search, internships and computer tutorials.
  • Metropolitan College is a partnership with UPS.  Students can work with UPS in exchange for tuition benefits and wages.

EES (Educational Enrichment Services)

  • EES provides – at no cost – a review of fundamentals in math, writing, or reading skills for students whose COMPASS scores are too low for enrollment in regular JCTC classes.
  • Besides a review of fundamentals, EES instructors also teach basic computer skills, discuss study strategies, and provide information about campus resources

Financial Aid

  • Jefferson’s Financial Aid office helps students and families navigate the complexities of student financial assistance.
  • Many types of financial assistance are available to students, but each has rules and regulations surrounding their administration.

International Students

  • The International Student Services Office is dedicated to serving International and ESL students.

  • Ready to Work (RTW) is a partnership between KCTCS and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
  • RTW is designed to promote the success of Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP) recipients who attend community and technical colleges and to provide short-term work study opportunities.

Transcript requests/evaluations

  • Most transcript requests are processed within 3-5 business days. Histories or transcripts of students who were enrolled prior to Summer 1987 may take 10-12 business days to process.
  • Transcripts will not be released if a financial hold has been placed on a student account. This hold must be resolved before the transcripts will be processed.

Ultra (The University of Louisville Transfer Program)
