Shelby County

The Shelby County Campus opened in 2002 to serve residents of Shelby and surrounding counties.  The campus has grown each year and currently enrolls more than 1,200 students. More than 150 classes are offered on the campus each semester, leading to each of the college’s credential programs and toward transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The campus also offers Machine Tool Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Office Systems Technology and Practical Nursing Programs.

Assessment/Placement Test:

  • Students take the three-part COMPASS assessment to help academic advisors determine skill levels in reading, writing and mathematics. 
  • The COMPASS is used to place students into appropriate courses and not to determine whether a student is admitted to the college.
  • The COMPASS is taken after a student is admitted to the college.

  • Provides information and services for students, visitors and potential students.


  • Please note that once you enroll in courses, you become financially obligated.
  • If you do not plan to attend classes, you must officially withdraw from classes following the withdrawal schedule in the Academic Calendar.

  • There is no Finanical Aid counselor full-time on campus

  • The library is more than just printed books and computers; it is alive with social and cultural awareness and events. 
  • Computers are available for word processing, e-mail, and Internet research.
