DR. GWENDOLYN G. JOSEPH NAMED INTERIM PRESIDENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGEKentucky Community and Technical College President (KCTCS) Dr. Jay Box announced today that former KCTCS vice president, Dr. Gwendolyn G. Joseph will become interim president of Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) effective August 16. Joseph retired from KCTCS in December 2011.
The search for a new JCTC president recently was extended to allow a broader search for candidates. The new president is expected to take the reins in January 2016.
Before her retirement, Joseph served in leadership positions for KCTCS for many years. While with KCTCS, she led and managed numerous system-wide, cross-functional teams whose purpose was to advance the collective success of the 16 KCTCS colleges in addressing student access, success and completion. Joseph s KCTCS portfolio includes change management, leadership and professional development, diversity and employee engagement, strategic planning and human resources. After retiring from KCTCS, Joseph refocused her career on interim community college leadership and has stepped in to lead colleges across the nation.
Dr. Joseph s experience at KCTCS and her interim leadership at other community colleges around the nation make her the right fit for JCTC, Box said. As we continue our search process, I feel confident that she will keep the college moving forward on the right course.
A native Texan, Joseph completed her doctorate in educational administration through the University of Texas Community College Leadership Program. Her leadership skills were further developed through participation in such programs as Leadership Kentucky, Harvard s Institutes for Management and Leadership in Education, the National Institute for Leadership Development, and the Kellogg Foundation s Expanding Leadership Diversity in Community Colleges.
Current President Anthony Newberry will step down in mid-August, but he is not leaving the college. He plans to teach a history course this fall.
