Ready to Work (RTW)/Work and Learn (WL) is a program developed through a partnership
between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), Kentucky Cabinet
for Health and Family Services (CHFS), Department for Community Based Services (DCBS).
Is designed to promote the success of Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP).
Ready to Work (RTW) is designed to assist eligible Jefferson students in the Kentucky
Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP).
- The program provides the RTW participant with a comprehensive network of support services
including counseling, advocacy, mentoring, job skills training, academic success training,
personal financial education, tutoring, and referrals to other community based agencies.
- RTW Coordinators also assist students in accessing additional supportive services
and benefits provided through KCHFS and other agencies including transportation, childcare,
and housing assistance.
Work and Learn (WL) was the expansion of the education focused case management and
work-study opportunities to KTAP clients enrolled in Kentucky’s adult education and
GED programs .
- Work and Learn participants must also be KTAP recipients who do not have a GED or
High School Diploma or who possess a high school diploma/GED but are in need of some
basic academic skills instruction or “brushing up” on reading, math, and English.
