About College Testing
What is the Placement test?
The placement test is a computerized, three-part test that determines your course placement in Reading, English, and Math. All tests are untimed. Testing sessions are set up for 3-4 hours.
Who needs to take one?
All credential seeking students who do not meet the college readiness benchmarks on any of the approved methods of assessment and placement listed below:
- ACT
- Accuplacer
- ALEKS PPL
- ASSET (not administered after November, 2016)
- COMPASS (not administered after November, 2016)
- GED College Readiness
- GPA (Cumulative unweighted high school GPA at the end of the first semester senior year)
- KYOTE
- SAT
- TABE 9/10-A (not administered after October, 2018)
- Wonderlic

What should I bring?
- A valid, non-expired photo ID.
- Calculators are permitted.

Is there a fee?
There is no charge for the first attempt of Placement and ESL exams however if you chose to retake the ESL, Reading or English Placement exams within the year there is a $10 fee added to your student account. There is no fee to retake the Math Placement Exam.
Do my scores expire?
Reading, writing, and math scores are valid for four years. High School GPA does not expire. GED Scores must be from KY and taken in or after 2014.
