Xerox FAQs
This document hopes to address some of the issues raised with existing machines.
Additional features and capabilities (fax, fax from desktop, scanning, FlowPort) will be addressed as we move forward with contract negotiation.
How do I prevent someone from seeing my printouts?
- From your application, click File|Print (or however you normally print if you want to change some options). Select the Xerox machine and then click Properties.
- Then select “Secure print” from the pull down list on the “Job Type” on the “Paper/Output” tab.
- The first time you do this you will need to create a Print Code. Click “OK” and then click “Print” when you come back to the “Print” dialog box (above).
- Go to the Xerox machine and push the “Job Status” button.
- You will see your print job waiting on you.
- Select it on the touch screen, press release, enter your “Print Code”.
- Your job is released and printed while you are there!
How do I print on transparencies/special paper and prevent others from printing on it?
- Load your “special” paper in one of the trays.
- When you see the confirmation dialog box on the screen of the Xerox machine, tell it that there is colored paper, transparencies, etc in the tray.
- Now when you print your job, specify the paper as what it really is.
- This will also allow you to prevent someone else from printing a normal document on your special paper.
- Remember to remove your stock from the tray and return it to “normal” paper so the next person will not have difficulty printing!
How do I copy on transparencies/special paper and prevent others from printing on it?
- This is a special case of the question above in that all of the selections are done at the Xerox machine since this is a copy job instead of a print job.
- Load your “special” paper in one of the trays.
- When you see the confirmation dialog box on the screen of the Xerox machine, tell it that there is colored paper, transparencies, etc in the tray.
- Now when you begin your copy job, specify the paper you want under the Paper Supply selection on the screen.
- This will also allow you to prevent someone else from printing a normal document on your special paper.
- Remember to remove your stock from the tray and return it to “normal” paper so the next person will not have difficulty copying!
How do I get the machine to punch holes?
- OK. This is a trick question.
- Hole punching is too demanding of a task to be included in our frontline machines (even the big machines don’t usually have this feature).
- The true solution is to use “Drilled” paper and then use the ‘How do I print on transparencies/special paper and prevent others from printing on it?” to define your print job to print on your stock.
How do I turn Banner Sheets on/off?
- Click Start|Settings|Printers.
- Right Click the Xerox printer you want to set/un-set properties on and select Printing Preferences.
- Select the “Document Options” Tab.
- You may check/un-check the “Request Banner Sheet” as needed.
- This change will apply to your default settings for this printer.
- These defaults can be overridden inside of an application when selecting your printer and properties.
