New Automotive Apprenticeship Program with Fiat Chrysler
Jefferson Community and Technical College opened doors to a new automotive experience for its students. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA US) added Jefferson to its growing number of college apprenticeship programs designed to produce highly trained technicians for thousands of open positions nationwide. The program, officially called Mopar CAP (Career Automotive Program) LOCAL, is expected to turn out more than 80 work-ready students at the end of the four-semester requirements.
Mopar CAP LOCAL was established in partnership with the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) to train thousands of students annually. Dozens of colleges have joined the initiative since its inception in 2015. Jefferson is the latest to sign on, beginning the curriculum for the first time in the Fall 2018 semester. Mopar CAP LOCAL prepares technicians to work as Level 1 Technicians upon graduation from a certified two-year training institution, such as a university, college, community college, or technical center.
“Businesses across our community, our country, and the world are seeking out Jefferson to produce their next-generation workforce,” said Jefferson President Dr. Ty J. Handy. “This college can and will be the educational driver for economic growth in the commonwealth.”
