Published on Mar 3, 2026

Jefferson Community and Technical College’s Center for Science and Discovery has been recognized by the Kentucky Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.

The award was presented on February 18 during a ceremony in Lexington. Jefferson President Ty Handy attended the event alongside representatives from Marrillia Design and Construction, the contractor for the project.

The recognition highlights Jefferson’s continued commitment to creating modern, student-centered spaces that foster pride and support academic success. Since opening, the Center for Science and Discovery has served as a hub for innovation, collaboration and hands-on learning.

Marrillia Design and Construction partnered with Jefferson to bring the vision for the facility to life, delivering a state-of-the-art building designed to support students for years to come.

This marks the second time in recent years that a Jefferson facility has been recognized by the Kentucky AGC. In 2020, the College’s Advanced Manufacturing & Information Technology Center also received recognition from the organization.
