
Jefferson Academic Team competes among nation's best at Community College Championship Tournament

Jefferson's Academic Team recently represented the college at the Community College Championship Tournament in Chicago, competing among the top 24 community college quiz bowl teams in the nation.
Jefferson finished 15th overall, placing the team among the nation's top competitors in the prestigious tournament. Entering the tournament with a 20th-place ranking, the team exceeded expectations and secured key wins against Valencia College and Santa Fe College.
Team members Noble Anderson, Clairissa Barbeau, Noah Coomes, and Augustin DeLaTorre delivered strong individual performances, averaging 16, 13, 11, and 15 points per game, respectively.
The Community College Championship Tournament is the premier national event for two-year college quiz bowl teams, featuring highly competitive programs from across the United States. Teams earn their place in the tournament through strong performances in regional competitions throughout the season.
The national event capped an exciting season for Jefferson's Academic Team, which also hosted two tournaments during the season. The events welcomed teams from institutions such as Purdue University and Dartmouth College, marking the first time an Ivy League school competed in a tournament hosted by Jefferson.
The 2026 Community College Championship Tournament was won by Chipola College of Marianna, Florida.
