Jefferson’s Carrollton Campus expands hands-on training through DOW partnership

Published on Apr 28, 2026

Students in Jefferson Community and Technical College  – Carrollton’s Applied Process Technology program will now benefit from new immersive, hands-on training systems made possible through grant funding and a strong partnership with Dow. This collaboration reflects Jefferson’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality, career-focused education while supporting regional workforce needs.

The three new training modules, developed in collaboration with Dow engineers, replicate real-world industrial systems and decision-making tools, giving students valuable, career-ready experience. By integrating these advanced learning systems into the program, Jefferson is helping prepare a skilled workforce equipped to safely operate and maintain modern manufacturing facilities.

“This skid is more than equipment. It is an investment in our students, campus, and in the strength of our workforce,” Heather Yocum, Carrollton Campus Director said. “It gives our students real-world experience, builds confidence, and prepares them to step directly into high-demand careers. When education and industry come together, we’re not just preparing students, we’re building futures and strengthening our entire region.”

The training skid project was developed through close collaboration between industry professionals and Jefferson faculty, who identified experiential learning as a critical component of student success. Designed for flexibility and ease of use, the systems enable instructors to simulate real-world challenges without the need for complex software, making training both practical and accessible.

This initiative highlights Jefferson’s ongoing commitment to workforce development, economic growth, and creating pathways to high-wage, high-demand careers in Carrollton and the surrounding region.
