Jefferson Giving Day donations will fund scholarships, emergency support and essential student resources

Published on May 4, 2026

More students will receive needs-based scholarships and access to essentials, emergency aid and critical support services thanks to the 93 donors who collectively contributed $21,135 during Jefferson Community & Technical College’s annual Giving Day.

The 24-hour fundraising effort, held April 22, mobilized community support to help remove barriers to education and ensure students can stay on track to complete their degrees and enter the workforce. As part of the day’s efforts, Jefferson produced an hour and a half live show featuring student stories, campus partners and special guests, encouraging donations and highlighting the real impact of giving on students.

“At Jefferson, we know our students are capable of achieving great things when they have the support they need,” said Jefferson President Ty Handy. “Giving Day is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when our community comes together to invest in student success.”

Jefferson is focused on listening to students, identifying the challenges they face and taking action to address those needs. Donor support allows the college to respond quickly when students encounter unexpected financial hardships — from food insecurity to unexpected expenses — ensuring they can continue their education without interruption.

Funds raised through Giving Day will support:

The Hub, which provides essential needs like food, clothing and personal care items
Jefferson Emergency Fund, offering immediate assistance for students facing urgent situations
Jefferson Rising, enhancing facilities to support a modern learning environment
Jefferson Jubilee Scholarships, expanding access through financial support
Jefferson Fund – Area of Greatest Need, allowing the college to direct resources where they are most needed
“Every gift, no matter the size, helps remove obstacles and creates opportunity,” Handy said. “Together, we are helping students succeed in the classroom and beyond.”

Jefferson also extends a special thank you to College Board Chair Hernan Mujica; College and Foundation Board member Sam Moseley and Mary Moseley; Foundation Board member Paul Neumann; and the entire Foundation Board for stepping up to provide matching funds and amplify the impact of every gift.
