Published on May 18, 2026
Jefferson has named Jimmy Houseal as its 2026 Pathfinder of the Year, recognizing his outstanding work supporting students and connecting them with community college opportunities.
The annual Pathfinder of the Year recognition from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System honors high school teachers and counselors who go above and beyond in guiding students toward higher education pathways. Houseal was selected from more than 70 nominations across the state.
Houseal serves as the College Access Resource Teacher at George Chaffee Teenage Parent Program (TAPP), where he works closely with students to help them explore college and career opportunities.
Houseal's nominator said, "Jimmy Houseal encourages students to attend the local community college by highlighting the benefits of starting their education locally, such as affordability and flexible scheduling. He makes sure students are aware of all Kentucky scholarships that can help reduce costs. In addition, he connects students with internships and organizes leave-to-learn experiences in the community, allowing them to see firsthand how college programs align with real-world careers.”
Jefferson thanks Houseal for being an incredible supporter and partner of Jefferson!
