
JCTC commencement ceremony May 10 2016
About 400 students are expected to cross the stage Tuesday (May 10 2016) night during Jefferson Community and Technical College's annual Commencement Ceremony.
The college will award a record 1,518 associate degrees this year and will recognize 1,760 individuals earning a credential, either a certificate, diploma and/or associate degree.
Among the graduates is Abdul Hasib Abdul Rasool, an Afghanistan native who has been living in the United States for three years. Rasool, who speaks seven languages and is earning an associate degree in science with top academic honors, will deliver the student address to the Class of 2016.
This year's class has representatives of 35 countries outside of the United States.
Also, at the ceremony, Dr. Ty J. Handy, who joined the college Jan. 1 as president, will be formally installed as the college's sixth chief executive officer.
The ceremony begins at 6:30pm in Hall 2D of the Kentucky International Convention Center. Tickets are not required. Graduates should arrive no later than 5:30pm.
