Ready to Work Program

Ready to Work (RTW)/Work and Learn (WL) is a program developed through a partnership between the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), Department for Community Based Services (DCBS). Is designed to promote the success of Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP).

Ready to Work (RTW) is designed to assist eligible Jefferson students in the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (KTAP).

The program provides the RTW participant with a comprehensive network of support services including counseling, advocacy, mentoring, job skills training, academic success training, personal financial education, tutoring, and referrals to other community based agencies.
RTW Coordinators also assist students in accessing additional supportive services and benefits provided through KCHFS and other agencies including transportation, childcare, and housing assistance. Work and Learn (WL) was the expansion of the education focused case management and work-study opportunities to KTAP clients enrolled in Kentucky’s adult education and GED programs.
Work and Learn participants must also be KTAP recipients who do not have a GED or High School Diploma or who possess a high school diploma/GED but are in need of some basic academic skills instruction or “brushing up” on reading, math, and English.
