What is a Physical Therapist Assistant?

A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a licensed professional who provides services under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

They will create, implement, and modify treatment interventions that are specific to meeting the functional mobility goals and plan of care set by the supervising physical therapist. A PTA may work in a variety of settings, such as a hospital, nursing home, home health, rehabilitation center, school system, or outpatient center.

How Do I Apply?

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program program utilizes a selective admission process for enrollment where specific qualifications and requirements must be met before a student can enroll in physical therapy courses.

Students interested in applying must first attend a pre-admission conference. The PTA application materials are only available to students who attend a pre-admission conference. No access to applications will be granted after the last conference is held in March. All applications must be completed and submitted by April 1 to be considered for Fall enrollment.

All students must also submit an ACT Composite Score Report to Jefferson prior to April 1 to be considered for admission (Refer to ACT for details).

Pre-Admission Conference

Conferences will be held online in a Microsoft Teams Meeting and in-person on the downtown campus to discuss all steps involved in the application process and allow students access to the online application form.
