
TRIO Student Support Services
Our Mission
The mission of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is to increase student retention and graduation rates by providing comprehensive academic, financial, and personal support. Services offered through TRIO SSS include academic and study assistance, financial literacy education, transfer and career planning, student enrichment experiences, and individualized success coaching.
All services are provided at no cost to participants.

To be eligible for TRIO Student Support Services an applicant must be a United States Citizen or permanent resident, and meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Meet low income standards set by the federal government
- Be a first generation student (neither parent has earned a bachelor's degree)
- Have a documented disability
Students who participate in Jefferson's TRIO SSS program must complete the following, with support from their SSS Coordinator:
- Complete an advising checklist with their SSS Coordinator
- Complete assessments on career path, learning style, Myers-Briggs personality, and financial literacy
- Work with their SSS Coordinator to create an individual plan to further the student's academic and career goals and maintain financial health
- Complete financial aid counseling through the Financial Aid Office
- Meet with their SSS Coordinator at least 5 times each semester
- Attend a College and Career Success seminar at least 3 times each semester
- Attend a 45-minute TRIO seminar at least once each month
- Follow up with their SSS Coordinator to address any academic or non-academic concerns they are facing, as needed
Virtual opportunities will be made available for students who are unable to attend some meetings or events in-person.
Applications for TRIO Student Support Services will open on the first day of both the Fall and Spring semesters. Each application period will remain open for one month from the opening date; late applications will be added to the application pool for the following semester's cohort.
