Transfer Programs of Study

Do I have a Major?

At the associate's level, you do not have a "major" in the same way that you do at the bachelor's level. You do have an intended "degree" or "program of study." Be careful that you choose the correct degree to prepare for transfer. Do not choose an associate degree just because it has a similar name to the bachelor's degree you intend to get.

→ Example:  If you want a Bachelor’s in Biology, you would probably get an Associate in Science to prepare for transfer. An “Associate in Biology" does not exist at Jefferson.

→ Example:  The AAS in Engineering and Electronics Technology has a similar name to a bachelor's degree in engineering but may not be the correct associate's degree if you intend to get a bachelor's in engineering. Again, you would probably start with an Associate in Science.

Be sure to talk to the school you intend to transfer to in order to determine what degree you should get at the associate’s level before you choose one of Jefferson's programs of study.
