Apply as a transfer student if you have earned college credits from another college or university. If you haven't taken college classes or you have only taken college classes through dual credit in high school, apply as a first-time freshman.

How to Apply & Complete your Admissions File

It’s easy to transfer to Jefferson, and we’re here to help. Just follow these four steps:

1. Submit the Application for Admission. It’s free, and only takes about 15 minutes to complete.
2. Submit your official college transcripts. You can order them online or ask your college’s records office to send them to us. They can be sent in the following formats:
   
   • Submitted electronically (faxes and email attachments are not accepted) through a secure, password-protected site (i.e. National Student Clearinghouse, E-Scrip, Parchment, or Credential Solutions) 
   • Mailed directly from the previous college to the mailing address below:

   • Hand-delivered in the original, signed and sealed envelope, please note print date must be within the last 6 months (if opened by the student, the transcript is unofficial).  
     • Please note: college transcripts must be delivered directly from the previous institution to us via electronic transfer or by mail in a stamped and sealed envelope.
3. Some students may be required to submit a High School transcript, ACT, SAT scores or the results of placement testing. You will receive notification from the Admissions Office if this is needed once your transcript has been received. Official test scores received within the last four years may be accepted in the following formats: 
   • ACT/KYOTE/SAT listed on an officially submitted high school transcript via Parchment, Scribbles, or Scoir.
     • If a high school transcript is submitted with a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.2 or higher, the testing requirement may be waived for some subjects.
   • ACT scores may be submitted online through ACT.
   • SAT scores may be submitted online through SAT College Board.  
   • KY GED scores must be submitted online through GED.
     • Please note only Kentucky GED scores received in the last 4 years with a RTLA score of 165 may be utilized for reading test requirement.
     • Scores should be sent directly from the organization to Jefferson, scores released to students and opened will not be accepted.
